I am a psychiatrist with fifteen years' experience in the assessment and management of mental health issues in children and adolescents. I have worked as a full-time NHS Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for ten years, including four years as Consultant for the Southend Child and Family Consultation Service and Consultant for the South Essex Child and Adolescent Learning Disability Service. I am currently the Consultant for Poplar Adolescent Inpatient Unit in Rochford, Essex. My CV is available on request.

I offer assessment, advice and medical treatment for most childhood mental health issues including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety disorders including Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Paediatric Bipolar Affective Disorder
  • Psychosis
  • Eating Disorders
  • Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Attachment Disorders
  • Emerging Personality Disorders

I am happy to see patients with complex difficulties, as well as those who may have simultaneous medical and psychological illnesses.

I have expertise in the management of Autism, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Learning Disabilities in childhood. I am not currently able to offer diagnostic assessment for these conditions although I hope to offer this service in future. If your child has already had an assessment then I may still be able to offer advice and medical treatment.

I am recognised as a specialist by the following healthcare insurers: BUPA, AXA PPP, WPA, Aviva, Vitality (formerly Prudential), Cigna and CS Healthcare.

For more information please read the Services page, and please contact me by phone or e-mail if you have any questions or would like to make a booking. You can find out about other services offered by the Anglo-European Clinic and Forest Therapy Centre on their websites.

COVID-19 ARRANGEMENTS UPDATED 22.8.2021: I am currently offering all clients a choice between face-to-face appointments at Forest Therapy Centre or Prittlewell House, or Skype appointments. If you have insurance then you should continue to check whether your insurer will cover a Skype appointment as this may change in future.

If attending a face-to-face appointment please continue to take general precautions: on arrival please check in with the NHS COVID-19 app, please use hand sanitiser, and please wear a mask/face covering unless exempt. I am happy to provide masks if needed and will be wearing one myself.

I will continue to accept cancellations/re-arrangement of appointments at short notice, up to the date and start time of the appointment, and I will issue a full refund if a pre-paid appointment is cancelled for any reason. However if you have arranged an appointment and do not attend or cancel then you will still be charged.

Prescriptions can now be issued for up to 3 months at a time once a stable dose has been established. Please see the Fees/Terms page here.

Please contact me by e-mail if needed. I am currently unable to respond to all messages by phone and I am likely to be able to respond more quickly to e-mail.

Although I have continued to work through the COVID-19 pandemic I have had to prioritise my NHS inpatient role during this time. I have limited time for private work and may not always have the capacity to take on new patients.

There is more information on the News page here and I will update this page if there are any changes to the above arrangements.
